Surprising misconceptions about laminate flooring revealed by Quick-Step online survey

DID you know that many people still thank laminate isn’t beautiful?
Quick-Step has reportedly bust this myth and other misconceptions about laminate flooring.
In an online survey of 1,200 people in the UK by Quick-Step that asked about their opinions about different flooring types, some surprising misconceptions about laminate flooring were revealed.

The brand is encouraging retailers to challenge consumer perceptions and become part of a band of flooring myth busters.
According to respondents, who all took part in an online questionnaire, laminate flooring has upsides and downsides. Worries about water, noise, resistance to heat and not being very appealing or beautiful, were all reasons for not thinking about laminate as a floor for their home.

On the upside, many people believe it to be easy to clean and good quality, with some also believing it gave their house a classy look.
With Quick-Step laminate flooring many of the worries of homeowners highlighted in the survey are nothing more than a myth:
Laminate flooring isn’t waterproof
This may have been true a decade ago, but since Quick-Step introduced its first waterproof collection (without joint seals) in 2014, it’s been letting homeowners enjoy laminate in their bathroom and still enjoy a warranty. Twelve years later and almost all Quick-Step laminate floors are described as waterproof and safe for bathroom and kitchen use.

Laminate is noisy and sounds hollow to walk on
It all depends on what underlay you choose. Any laminate floor should be installed with an underlay, but not all underlays are the same when it comes to sound. With Quick-Step Silent Walk underneath any noise is drastically reduced, making walking quieter.
Laminate is difficult and messy to install, says the brand.
Quick-Step introduced the world’s first glueless installation system in 1997 and since then Uniclic has reportedly been making it easy to install laminate flooring. Quick-Step has even banished complex herringbone installations for its Impressive Designs collection, which features the Unizip system.

Laminate is ugly and doesn’t look like wood
While some laminate floors look glossy and unrealistic, Quick-Step excels in laminate floors that look and feel exactly like real wood.
Thanks to deeper and more varied textures, a matt finish and true-to-nature designs, Quick-Step really is impressive to look at. In fact, some might say it’s impossible to spot the difference.
Now these common myths have been busted, it’s clear that today’s laminate flooring is an ideal choice for homes wanting a floor that’s easy to install and easy to live with, all while looking just like real wood.
So, next time a customer is a little unsure about whether laminate flooring is right for them don’t forget that Quick-Step helps you bust myths, one floor at a time.
