Amorim Wise supplied the following information on the benefits of installing cork flooring.
Comfortable, silent and thermally insulated, cork is one of the most (if not the most) sustainable, natural and green raw material, obtained without ever cutting or damaging the tree.
And now, more than ever, it’s the material of the future. You can have all its benefits with an endless array of visuals, colours and formats, that will suit all needs of your space.
Today we can find cork-based floors in all kinds of projects around the world – from hotels to residential spaces, offices, shops, museums and libraries. Cork’s endless design possibilities and its unmatched comfort make it the perfect solution for any project, anywhere in the world, with unique benefits.
Silence
Due to cork’s high gaseous content (60% of its volume is a lightweight gas similar to air), this material is exceptional in delivering superior acoustic performance. Amorim Cork Flooring floors have a multilayer cork structure that features two layers of cork, which make our flooring solutions very efficient blocking the walking sound and airborne sound.
Comparing the walking sound between cork and laminate floors, tests confirm that cork floorings reduce the walking sound up to 53%.
Natural thermal insulation
Its unique performance is based on the fact that every plank has at least one structural layer of high density cork, which strengthens the thermal and acoustic properties of the material. Layer by layer, balance becomes a reality: more silence, more thermal insulation and more impact resistance. A cork flooring will help to maintain an optimal floor temperature all year round.
Walking comfort
As it softens impacts and provides tactile comfort, cork is particularly suited to the balance and wellness of the human body. The natural flexibility of the material results in comfort in movement and cosiness, easing the impacts on our body and reducing tensions. Our floors provide the needed stability to reduce effort on walking and decrease body fatigue.
Indoor air quality
And because this exceptional material continues to retain CO2 even after it has been transformed, cork flooring will significantly improve the indoor air quality. An Amorim Cork Flooring product can retain up to 3,06kg of CO2 per square metre, ensuring a purer and cleaner air.
Our products are tested and certified through several indoor air quality certificates, such as TÜV-PROFiCERT, a transnational certificate for VOC-emission and air quality, certifying that a product complies with different national regulations. All of Amorim Cork Flooring products have the TÜV certificate, as well as the French certification for VOC emissions with the highest level (A+). Other certificates, such as the Green Guard, identify products that have low chemical emissions ensuring that these can be used in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
