Cemfloor Level Plus

Cemfloor Liquid Screed is happy to present the latest innovative product in their range. Cemfloor Level Plus is a specially formulated ultra-thin self-levelling cementitious floor screed. The product is a mixture of Cemfloor binder, cement, water, and a suitable sand.

Cemfloor Level Plus is specifically designed for use as a thin section screed at a depth between 12-50mm and to bridge the gap between bagged self-levelling compound materials and standard screeds.

Perfectly suited to flooring applications where height is extremely restricted, Cemfloor Level Plus offers a lightweight cost-effective alternative to smoothing compounds. It can be installed extremely quickly to at least 2,000sq m per day. This represents a significant saving in time when compared to bagged, site mixed smoothing compounds and levelling screeds.

Level Plus is produced in ISO-accredited ready mix concrete plants and delivered to site ready to use in a ready mix concrete truck.

Key features and benefits

  • Thinner sections, up to 70% less compared to traditional screeds.
  • Up to 70% weight saving compared to traditional screeds (24kg/sq m at 12mm depth).
  • Very cost efficient compared to bagged self-levelling compounds.
  • Ready mixed solution = no site mixing, no bag storage/disposal, ensures high productivity.
  • Suitable for use with various flooring systems, eg, low profile UFH panels.
  • Minimal drying shrinkage (<0.4mm/m).
  • Easy installation (reduces time and costs).
  • Larger floor area without joints.
  • Foot traffic after 24-48 hours.
  • Can be applied in wet areas.
  • Reduced drying times.
  • Self compacting.
  • Can be loaded after seven days.
  • No risk of contamination with other flooring products.
  • No surface laitance (dust) after curing.

Substrate preparation
Cemfloor Level Plus Screed is designed for use as a thin levelling screed on a new or existing substrate, as a floating screed over thermal or acoustic insulation with a minimum compressive strength of 100kPa, or as an unbonded screed on top of a plastic membrane.

When bonding to an existing substrate the substrate must have a minimum surface tensile strength of 1.0N/sq mm. Surfaces must be sound and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, and any other contaminants. Any laitance or surface treatments must be removed before use. The substrate should be mechanically prepared to provide an open textured surface to ensure an adequate bond between the screed and the substrate. The substrate must also be primed with a suitable priming agent. The choice of priming agent will depend on the condition of the existing substrate and its moisture content.

Application
Cemfloor Level Plus should be used in accordance with BS 8204-7:2003 ‘Code of Practice for Pumpable Self- Smoothing Screeds’. To ensure a high-quality screed it is recommended that application is carried out by a specialist contractor who has been approved to place Cemfloor screeds. The freshly poured screed will need to be levelled/finished using a dappling bar and/or a spiked roller. Cemfloor Level Plus must be installed as per installation guidelines in a sealed/weather tight area.

Floor coverings
Cemfloor Level Plus screed is compatible with all floor coverings, and all cementitious adhesives including fast track systems. It is also compatible with epoxy and polyurethane resins/flooring systems to provide a high strength abrasion-resistant industrial floor.

The screed’s moisture content should be measured before placing floor coverings to ensure that it is adequately dried. Cemfloor Level Plus will not require any sanding to remove laitance. It may however be recommended that the surface of the screed be lightly abraded to clean and remove any building residue and to ensure that there is a good key or the correct degree of porosity to meet the manufacturers requirement to receive some specific floor coverings.

Some typical applications include:

  • Refurbishment of old uneven floors.
  • Remediation or correction for out of level concrete slabs.
  • As a levelling screed over floors where floor to ceiling height is very restricted.
  • Sub floor levelling in preparation to receive finished floor coverings.
  • Overlay for poorly levelled screeds
  • As an alternative to lightweight screeds

Minimum installation depths

  • Bonded: 12mm
  • Unbonded: 20mm
  • Floating on rubber based resilient layer: 25mm
  • Floating on thermal insulation :
    Domestic = 35mm Commercial= 40mm*
  • Low profile underfloor heating systems: 12mm above pipes**1

*These depths are based on standard thermal insulation; it is possible to install at reduced depths if high strength insulation is used. Please contact our technical department for further guidance.
** Please confirm minimum depth required with the manufacturer of the low profile underfloor heating system.

Case study: Verdo, Kew Bridge EcoWorld Brentford
Cemfloor Level Plus was chosen for this project as the contractor required a screed that could be installed at low thicknesses. Due to the tight project deadline and the installer wishing to use a ready mixed product instead of a bagged self-levelling compound, Cemfloor Level Plus was supplied by Capital Concrete and installed by Advance Screeding UK Ltd.

The main contractor had problems with the floor levels on site, so Cemfloor provided a thin screed system to work alongside the unique low profile UFH system; a castellated mat system installed onto Superfoil insulation. The UFH system was supplied by Compact Underfloor Heating. The complete floor build was only 45mm in depth and included acoustic insulation, thermal insulation, castellated UFH system, and Cemfloor Level Plus.

Advanced Screeding installed Cemfloor Level Plus throughout the development. In total 800m3 of screed was easily pumped to height, over 11 floors without issue, providing an excellent, fast drying low profile floor, and saving significant time on the project.

As Cemfloor Level Plus is a ready mixed solution it removed the need for any site mixing, material storage and material disposal from the site. Given the volume of screed required; if a self-levelling compound product was used this would have equated to approx. 55,000 x 25kg bags of material having to be mixed on site.
