MULTIDIMENSIONAL synthetic turf provides a durable, all-weather solution in so many environments and, like all surfaces, a successful installation is crucial. Good turf seams, in particular, can make or break an installation, and are vital to ensure durability, safety and longevity. They also prevent weeds from seeding within gaps and the displacement of infill material.
In response, Mapei has developed Ultrabond Turf PU 2K which it describes as a fast-setting, polyurethane turf seam adhesive for professional application in indoor and outdoor settings.
Developed for professional sport, education and landscape environments, Ultrabond Turf PU 2K is a two-component adhesive formulated for high performance invisible seaming and direct bonding.
The company says it’s suitable for use with all types of synthetic turf – including polyethylene, polypropylene and nylon products, PU-backed turf or slit-film constructions – and is coloured green to blend into its environment.
‘Providing seam strengths that exceed FIFA standards, the adhesive can be applied onto Ultrabond Turf Tape or turf manufacturer-recommended seaming scrim, cured concrete and asphalt.
‘Ultrabond Turf PU 2K cures in 2-4 hours, to provide a tough, moisture-proof bond, and can accept light foot traffic after about 12 hours and heavy traffic after 24 hours (min).
It can be used in all climatic conditions including cool temperatures, during the winter/spring months when ambient relative humidity is low and in arid environments, making it suitable for global specification.’
