THE stresses on a flooring installation caused by underfloor heating shouldn’t be underestimated and it’s important to ensure the correct installation methods are adhered to, especially when under time pressure.
Says Kerakoll, ‘Kerakoll’s UFH systems are specifically designed to allow rapid and reliable installations that deliver long-lasting performance without compromising on quality. Once the carrier board and pipework are installed, the whole floor should be primed and then Proflow Finish used to level and smooth the floor before the flooring installation.
‘Proflow Finish can easily cope with the expansion and shrinkage caused by underfloor heating. This single component self-smoothing compound is a true all rounder, moisture tolerant and suitable for use in any installation, on any substrate and with any type of resilient flooring at depths of up to 60mm. It has a free flowing formulation, a 30 minute wet edge time, and is able to accept foot traffic and floorcoverings after 3.5 hours. It has an EC1-Plus GEV Emicode rating.’
The company continues, ‘Proflow Smooth is a good alternative where access to other parts of the site is needed more quickly as it accepts foot traffic after only 90 minutes and floorcoverings after just 3.5 hours. This self-smoothing compound has a unique free flowing formulation that fills and smooths any substrate imperfections and creates a flawless surface finish effortlessly. With working and wet edge times of 30 minutes, it gives the best blend of extended working times and rapid installation.’
Adds Kerakoll, ‘Once the floor has been smoothed, Eco-3000 HT should be used to install the floorcovering. This is a high temperature universal adhesive suitable for installing LVT, PVC, vinyl flooring as well as carpet and textiles onto a wide variety of substrates. It is ideal for use in conservatories, as well as other buildings with large expanses of glass where direct sunlight may heat the floor. Tilemaster Eco-3000 HT has been formulated with a fast tacking-off time.
‘Flooring can be installed after as little as 10 minutes, when the adhesive is semi-tacked off and has reached its ‘anti-slide’ state.
