Mapei system used to complete resilient floor installation

FLOORING IN HOSPITALITY & LEISURE

A MAPEI system has been used to complete a resilient floor installation at multi award-winning Craft Republic in Barry.

The project, by Bridgend-based Intu Interiors, included preparation of subfloors and installation of LVT and sheet vinyl flooring using Mapei floor preparation products and low-VOC adhesive.
Originally located at The Goodsheds development in Barry, the family-owned Craft Republic’s new site is prominently positioned in Dockside at Barry Waterfront – a vibrant new go-to destination delivered by Persimmon Homes East Wales.

Dockside includes 23 commercial units and forms part of a major redevelopment in the waterfront area.

Craft Republic has an urban-style interior design, with an eye-catching wave-effect clad bar and wood-effect LVT flooring installed throughout. Prior to the installation of the resilient floor, the power-floated concrete subfloor was ground back to level and open porosity. The surface was then primed with ‘one-component rapid-drying PVDC-based Mapeproof Primer, to suppress any residual moisture, and levelled with Latexplan Trade – a two-component levelling and smoothing compound’.

The floor installation included LVT and sheet vinyl from TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring’s CFS range, installed throughout the front-of-house bar area. All-in-one universal adhesive, Ultrabond ECO V4 Evolution was used to install all flooring, providing a strong, rapid initial tack and long open/working time for an optimum finish.

Latexplan Trade and Ultrabond ECO V4 Evolution each feature a very low VOC EMICODE EC1 Plus formulation which promotes a safe installation environment.
