LEOLINE’s textile-backed floors reportedly use a backing composed entirely from 100% recycled material, including Social Plastic from Plastic Bank.
Says the company: ‘Not only are LeoLine’s textile backed floors made to bring a floor that’s fast and easy to install, but they also do social good thanks to Social Plastic from Plastic Bank. Under the Plastic Bank initiative, communities across Indonesia, Brazil and Egypt gather unwanted plastic exchanging it against life improving benefits including health, work and life insurance, digital connectivity, grocery vouchers, school supplies and more.’
The company continues: ‘LeoLine purchases this Social Plastic for use in its textile backing alongside other downcycled plastic. So far, Social Plastic has gathered 130,744,449kg of plastic waste and works with more than 50,000 members in more than 500 communities*.’
By using Social Plastic in its textile backed floors, LeoLine is reportedly stopping unwanted plastic entering the oceans and supporting sustainable economic growth.
Adds the company: ‘The use of Social Plastic comes alongside initiatives helping to reduce the environmental impact of LeoLine flooring. These include the use of wind energy through three onsite turbines at its Avelgem manufacturing site, the use of river water in production cooling to give a 30% increase in energy efficiency and the recycling of post-industrial vinyl waste.’
Stuart Reeves, sales and marketing director UK, says: ‘As a manufacturer, we’re responsible for the impact our product has on the planet and its people and so we are always looking for ways in which we can fulfil our responsibility.
‘The use of Social Plastic lets us achieve social impact and also helps with our commitment to use materials responsibly. It can be found in all LeoLine textile backed floors meaning that every square metre installed in UK homes is contributing to a better life for some of the world’s poorest communities.’
