THE Ecorugs collection from Louis De Poortere is said to come with a guaranteed path to reuse or recyclability with the Take Care Program.
Says the company, ‘Launched a year ago, this collection is suitable for any interior project that’s looking to deliver a lower environmental impact. With the Ecorugs collection from Louis De Poortere, specifiers can be assured of a path to recyclability.
Owing to the Take Care Program, every Ecorug used within a project can be returned for resale or recycling back into new Ecorugs.
‘With a 100% polyester construction that’s completely recyclable and the Take Care Program, Ecorugs provide a circular option for projects. Take Care sees every rug is supplied with a QR code on the label that can be scanned to return the rug directly to Louis De Poortere for resale or recycling. The programme is free to use.’
Louis Dryon, coo, Louis De Poortere, explains more: ‘We believe circularity is a way we can reduce the impact of our products on the environment, but in order to do that properly, we need to make sure we’re in control of the product cycle. The Take Care Program is our way of working with projects to take responsibility and start the journey to true product circularity.’
Continues the company, ‘Ecorugs are available in a wide range of styles and sizes, with the Belgian manufacturer’s library designs also using the new mono-material construction. The Take Care Program ensures unwanted rugs are returned directly to Louis De Poortere, rather than entering other recycling or waste streams.
‘It’s the company’s ambition that by 2030 it’ll be able to produce its Ecorug collection from 100% recycled polyester from old Ecorugs. Currently, Louis De Poortere uses 20% rPET from downcycled plastic bottles for Ecorugs.’
‘With the intent to eliminate virgin materials for our rugs, we’ve created the programme as a pathway to ensure we can meet our ambition. It gives designers and specifiers the chance to choose rugs that can contribute to a lower environmental footprint for the project and gives us the opportunity to create a circular life for our rugs,’ concludes Louis Dryon.
