Heritage meets innovation: Mapei and Craftsman Flooring recognised for resin flooring

Runners-up included Mapei UK with Craftsman Flooring at Newark Works, Bath Quays.
The refurbishment of Newark Works Building included installing a modern resin floor finish in the 300sq m entrance hub area. As part of Bath Quays’ new business district, the revitalisation project aimed to transform the derelict site into a vibrant community hub for entrepreneurs and creative industries.

Designed by Ferguson Mann Architects and executed by BAM Construction, the historic crane factory now houses TCN’s collaborative workspaces. Craftsman Flooring installed Mapei’s Mapefloor resin flooring system, chosen for its seamless grey tones that enhance durability while complementing the building’s industrial aesthetic.

Originally constructed in 1857 for Stothert & Pitt, renowned for pioneering crane designs, the Grade II listed building retains its industrial charm with brick and steel elements. Mapei’s technical team provided on-site expertise, addressing subfloor crack repairs and ensuring precise application of the epoxy-based flooring system, which includes Mapefloor I 302 SL and Mapefloor Finish 58 W for enhanced wear and chemical resistance.
