AN extensive ceramics installation, featuring Mapei adhesives, has been completed at Manchester’s Potato Wharf.
A Lendlease development, the canal-side apartment complex is located in the city’s sought-after Castlefield district. Mapei products were used throughout all bathrooms to install over 3,000sq m of ceramic and porcelain tiles. The wall and floor tiling, on the final phase of two high end apartment blocks, was completed by tiling specialist – GF Holding Tiling.
Potato Wharf’s design complements its location and heritage, providing elegant space with an urban edge. Lendlease’s third and final phase includes 191 one and two bedroom apartments which were completed in 2021.
Says the company: ‘Throughout the apartments’ bathrooms, tiled surfaces were installed using Mapei Ultralite D2 and Keraflex Maxi S1 white adhesives. Mapei Ultralite D2 is a ready-to-use brilliant white adhesive, with a lightweight, high yield, and water-resistant formulation.
‘Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1 adhesive is a low VOC deformable cementitious adhesive with no vertical slip and an extended open time; these features enabled tiles to be fixed to painted surfaces within shower cubicles. Tiles were then grouted with Mapei Ultracolor Plus – an anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified grout, featuring water-repellent DropEffect and mould-resistant BioBlock.’
