This major heritage project started with the team replicating the listed Nairn’s of Kirkcaldy lino design, by making a match the on the Marmoleum shade card. The team took pictures of the original four colour design and sizes, and 220sq m of lino was uplifted in the dining saloon and seating areas. 6mm Hanson Plywood was mechanically fitted and the design was handcut to the original sizes and layout. The toilet areas required three coats of paint to be removed, then the building up of the floor and levelling off. The loos took two contractors seven days to grind off the paint in special suits and masks, whilst the handcut design (to replicate the original design) took two weeks for two workers.
