Gerflor’s healthcare solution

RUN by Gloucestershire County Council, Great Western Court Care Home provides personal care for 30 people. In a recent refurbishment, 300sq m of flooring for 17 bedrooms was needed, and GERFLOR’s Taralay Impression Control safety flooring was specified. Gerflor has more than 70 years’ experience of manufacturing healthcare-related flooring. Working in such facilities can sometimes be difficult due to the constraints of the actual environment.

Contractor Mike Burris, of Mike Burris Flooring, said: ‘It was a bit of a challenge as we had to schedule the work around the patients and make sure we kept the areas free from furniture and tools.’

In 2016, Gerflor won the CFJ/CFA Product of the Year category with its Taralay Impression Control range. This safety flooring collection is suitable for refurbishments and new builds. A multi-purpose floorcovering, available in 2m sheet format with a Group T wear rating, it has been developed for use in heavy-traffic environments where slip resistance is a must.

Available as a dual collection –Safety in Wood and Safety in Design – Taralay Impression Control is said to have a Pendulum Test value of +36, to meet HSE guidelines (BS 7976-2), to have a surface roughness of >20 RTM-RZ and R11 ramp test value (DIN 51130), in 24 colourways. It is suitable for healthcare, education, retail, public spaces, offices and other commercial interiors. It also offers a hygienic solution, thanks to a UV-cured PUR surface treatment.
