Donna Hannaway looks at how textile solutions can provide the answer for your next project.
WITH modern commercial design trends constantly evolving, contractors are often requested by clients to recommend solutions that can meet these new expectations. This can often seem challenging, but it doesn’t need to be so. Here I’ll look at how textile solutions can provide the answer for your next project.
Whatever the specific requirements of a commercial project may be, there are a range of solutions available on the market that can meet the demands of the job. However, there is one product that offers many benefits and is often the perfect solution: textile flooring. Being quick and easy to install, textile flooring can even be installed over raised access flooring, making it ideal for workspaces where access to wiring and cables underneath is required.
When people think of textile flooring, many will go straight to traditional carpet ‘tiles’, being the go-to for many interior flooring schemes. However, to set yourself apart from your competition, more modular options such as carpet planks allow you and your customers to experiment with different design ideas.
Carpet planks provide all the benefits of a tile solution, being durable and able to withstand heavy traffic. Warm and soft underfoot, carpet planks can also contribute to a more comfortable atmosphere, whilst helping to reduce impact sound – an important consideration for office spaces, helping to support concentration, productivity and collaboration. What’s more, due to the modular nature of the product, damaged or stained planks can be easily lifted and replaced, without having to replace the entire flooring scheme.
Finding carpet plank collections, such as Forbo’s newly released Tessera Teviot Phase, can also help your customers to really bring an interior space to life, utilising different laying patterns to bring a new dynamic to a flooring scheme. The ability to be fitted alongside traditional square carpet tiles further expands the versatility of planks, allowing for a series of unique and contemporary patterns to be created.
The Tessera Teviot Phase collection is designed, made and stocked in the UK, ensuring short lead times, making it a great solution for commercial jobs that need to be carried out quickly. All the colourways within the Tessera Teviot Phase offering have been taken from those in Forbo’s best-selling Tessera Teviot carpet tile range, combining two or three existing colourways into one transitional ‘phased’ pattern. The low-level loop pile textile range is available in 12 subtle stripe options, six neutrals and six matching neutrals with colour highlights, and, in its 100x25cm plank format, can be installed alongside the Teviot 50x50cm carpet tiles.
The collection is also manufactured in factories using 100% renewable energy (electricity and biogas) and contains 62% recycled content by weight, with class 33 durability and colour fastness ensuring a long service life.
