Keith McGrath outlines the expanding portfolio of great member benefits which are now available through membership of the Flowing Screeds Association.

THE Flowing Screeds Association (FSA) is the trade association for all screed installers, representing the industry and promoting flowing screeds throughout the construction sector. Membership is open to binder and system manufacturers, screed contractors and applicators.

Driving up training standards across the sector, through the establishment of practical training courses is a core aim of the FSA. If correct procedures are followed, flowing screeds, whether of the gypsum type or cement-based, provide the ideal surface for the installation of a top layer, which can be tiling, resin or any other type of floorcovering. But if best practice isn’t adhered to, things can go wrong, meaning it may not be possible to satisfactorily install a final floorcovering without further remedial work.

So, it’s great news that the FSA’s training module is now ready for launch. This is a key element of the association’s offer to members and we are grateful for the input from screeders in helping achieve our impressive progress in this area. Following due consideration, it’s been agreed that, in order to reach the maximum number of people, we’ll offer this training as an online course, as well as ‘in person’.

Full details on how to access FSA training are made available to members when they join.
For those looking for technical information, there is now an excellent library resource in the members’ area of the FSA website, comprising some 19 documents covering diverse topics of interest to companies in the screeding sector.

Complementing this, the FSA technical query service is now live. This service is available to all in the industry, whether a member or not, and provides information to anyone who has a technical query about a product or a project involving flowing screeds. FSA intends to answer requests for information from members within five working days.

To submit a request for information, email membership@flowingscreedsassociation.com,
ensuring you provide us with all the necessary information, including your full contact details and photographs where appropriate.

We’re also now able to offer free credit checks for members in partnership with Creditserve. We understand that dealing with customers, particularly new customers, can be a cause of unnecessary stress.

So, remove the anxiety from the process by getting your new customers credit checked, courtesy of the FSA.

Another new service available to members is our business support helpline which we have launched in partnership with Citation. Whether you need help with health & safety, employment law or some other aspect of running your business, get in touch for free advice. The details are in the members’ area.

Finally, one of the advantages of FSA membership is being able to say to your customers that you are a signed-up member of the screeding industry’s trade association. Now you’re able to communicate that fact by using the FSA logo on your stationery and marketing material. These materials are available to members from the members’ area of the website.

With the exception of the Technical Query Service, these services all come as benefits of membership of the Flowing Screeds Association. For more information about membership, please visit the website at www.flowingscreedsassociation.com, check that you agree to sign up to the FSA Code of Practice and hit that Join button!
