Cavalier Carpets expands bespoke design options with 40-colour nylon range

BLACKBURN-based Cavalier Carpets says it’s given specifiers a new level of creative control with Nylon Forty, a 40 colour solution-dyed nylon palette for bespoke tufted graphics. The concept has already been named a 2026 Flooring Innovation winner.
Contract specifiers have often had to balance design ambition against what a busy commercial space can withstand. Nylon Forty reportedly aims to remove that compromise, ‘pairing the proven performance of solution-dyed nylon with a level of colour freedom usually reserved for costlier bespoke programmes’.

Built for demanding contract interiors
Solution-dyed nylon has long been a specifier favourite, but it’s largely been the preserve of carpet tiles in heavy-wear commercial settings such as offices and retail. Says Cavalier: ‘Nylon Forty brings that performance to broadloom carpet for hospitality, from hotel bedrooms, corridors and lobbies to the communal areas of residential developments. Cavalier knows the sector well, having supplied Premier Inn for more than 30 years.’

Conventional nylon dyeing coats the surface of the fibre, whereas solution dyeing locks pigment in as the fibre is made. Cavalier likens it to a carrot rather than a radish: cut through it and the colour runs to the core. The result is reported to be strong stain resistance and colour that stays true under heavy footfall, cleaning and sunlight.
Combined with nylon’s natural resilience, the fibre reportedly resists crushing, matting and wear. It’s also said to be moth-proof, a growing concern in hospitality interiors, and inhibits mould, mildew and bacteria growth.
Nylon is 100% recyclable and produced with low carbon emissions, while a longer service life means fewer replacements over the lifetime of a building.

‘Forty colours, millions of possibilities’
Says Cavalier: ‘The palette’s 40 solution dyed colours each have a wool-look appearance, running from subtle neutrals and earthy tones to bold, contemporary hues. Any design can combine between two and six colours, giving more than 4.5 million possible colourways. Designers can match a carpet precisely to a brand identity or interior scheme, and bespoke colours are available on request.
‘Projects start with a design brief, as detailed or open as the client prefers. Cavalier’s in-house team develops concepts in CAD and produces a handmade sample for approval before manufacture, then coordinates with installers through to delivery. Nylon Forty sits alongside Cavalier’s wool tufted, printed and Axminster bespoke ranges as a hardwearing synthetic option.’
Seeing the design before it is made
An online Visualiser takes much of the guesswork out of colour selection, allowing designs to be recoloured on screen using up to six Nylon Forty colours.

‘Designs can be viewed in Cavalier’s bedroom, corridor and reception settings, or in a photograph of the user’s own space. They can then be saved or downloaded as a PDF to share with clients and project teams. Once a scheme is agreed, a physical sample can be requested through a local Cavalier representative.’

‘A family maker with a fresh perspective’
With more than 50 years of manufacturing behind it, family-owned Cavalier Carpets combines British tradition with a willingness to rethink how contract flooring is specified, says the company.
