Forbo announces winners of inaugural awards

FORBO Flooring Systems has announced the winners of its inaugural Forbo Awards. Launched earlier this year, the awards reportedly celebrate the best of interior design projects, featuring Forbo’s range of flooring solutions.

The 2024 Forbo Awards featured three categories: Project of the Year and Sustainable Project of the Year, which were reviewed by a panel of judges, and Public Choice, which was voted on by the public.

Project of the Year was awarded to Kerr Office Group for the refurbishment works to Improve International’s Swindon veterinary training facility.

Described as an inspiring design that subtly incorporated branding colours into a ‘coffee shop’ style space, this project embraced a diverse range of floorcoverings and colourways.

Sarah Payne, head of design at Kerr Office Group said: ‘It feels great to have won Project of the Year! This was a really special project to work on for the whole team and we’re so glad it’s getting the recognition it deserves. We couldn’t have done it without the wide range of designs and solutions that Forbo offers, providing us with ample choices for each space. ‘

The Sustainable Project of the Year category was won by Ansell and Bailey for its work on Hammersmith Hospital. Transforming a disused area of a busy hospital into a fully functional oncology department, this project brought the best out of Forbo’s sustainable Marmoleum floorcoverings.

Denise Cloutt, project architect from Ansell and Bailey commented: ‘It’s an amazing feeling to have won Sustainable Project of the Year! We feel extremely privileged and we’re all really proud of the finished project. It was lovely to see the reactions of all those present at the opening ceremony of the space, and we couldn’t have achieved that without the help of Forbo.’

Finally, the Public Choice award went to Jasper Sanders + Partners, for its work on the Potterrow student living in Edinburgh.

A former cluster flat student building, Jasper Sanders + Partners revolutionised the space, adding elements of sophistication and drama, with premium finishes.

Rebecca Finney, creative director at Jasper Sanders + Partners, said: ‘We’re over the moon to have won the Public Choice at the Forbo Awards. It’s a really nice feeling to be recognised by Forbo and our wider peers in the industry for this project. We see it as a landmark project for us and we’re very proud with the finished outcome and how it all came together. ‘
