Ideal for summer landscaping projects, Mapei’s pre-fix tile protector – UltraCare 5 Sides Sealer – is formulated to protect surfaces from moisture and adhesive staining.
Designed for application to tile edges and the reverse of the tile, the treatment can be used on all types of natural stone installed internally and externally, including marble, granite, limestone, slate and travertine.
Featuring a water-based, natural-look formulation, UltraCare 5 Sides Sealer is applied to the rear of clean tiles before fixing with cement-based adhesive or thick bed mortar. The impregnator protects the treated surfaces from water and stains, and prevents efflorescence from rising from the substrate.
It also protects tiles from contamination and staining from rising salts, tannins and oxides which can originate from underneath or from within the tile, rising through to the surface and staining. Without protection, these stains can only be treated if they occur from the surface; this makes the treatment especially suitable for application in wet and moisture-prone environments. Following application, moisture vapour is able to rise through the tile and the sealer does not affect bonding to the substrate.
After installation and removal of fixing residues, tile surfaces can then be sealed with UltraCare Stain Protector W and UltraCare Stain Protector W Plus natural-effect sealers or choose UltraCare Intensifier W or UltraCare Intensifier S for a colour-enhanced look.
Other new UltraCare treatments include UltraCare Rain Protector W, from the Zero Line, and UltraCare Rain Protector S, which both provide temporary protection for exterior flooring in contact with rainwater, at high and very high contact angles, and stop water ingress when tile or stone surfaces are cracked.
