We had been receiving increased concerns from customers who were replacing stair-nosings that had been fixed using screws and were worried that further parallel drilling would compromise the structural integrity of the step.

‘As such—and considering the current surge in usage of LVT and Vinyl floorcoverings—we set our design team the task of creating a profile that met the needs of our customers.’

Thus, says Norcros, the SN20 was born – a square-fronted double channel nosing with a ramped back. ‘The double channel provides a longer tread allowing for safer fixing to the step and a greater surface area of anti-slip material. The ramped back prevents several issues arising from the floorcovering shrinking, or damage caused by the permeation of water and other debris in between the flooring and stair-nosing.’

The company adds: ‘The SN20 is a perfect solution in that it fulfils its role from a safety perspective and provides the synergy to maintain the durability of the step whilst offering a smooth and safer transition down to the floorcovering. The SN20 will be followed by the SN26, a rake-back alternative which will be available from August 2019.’
