LION FLOOR’s engineered fibreboard is described by the company as the ‘reliable and affordable’ vinyl flooring fabricated underlay, giving a ‘super-smooth’ surface beneath LVT and sheet vinyl flooring.

Any flooring installer knows a great installation comes with careful preparation and choosing suitable products to carry it out. That’s why more installers are said by the company to choose LION Floor to lay the subfloor for installing their LVT and sheet vinyl floors.

LION Floor is a pre-conditioned engineered fibreboard that’s reportedly made in Finland from locally sourced and sustainable wood by-products to be an alternative to BS 8203 compliant plywood. Unlike other oil-tempered hardboards, it doesn’t need wetting before installation and is ready to receive screeds and feather compounds, says the company. Fitting LION Floor is described as simple because it can be cut with a knife or saw and is laid the same way as plywood.

The dense board is exceptionally resistant to impacts and the construction eliminates the problems that come with the core gaps and overlaps found in plywood. Made in Finland from readily available wood by-product and free from the highly volatile shipping and material costs encountered by flooring grade plywood, the engineered fibreboard is also consistently affordable.’

LION Floor adds: ‘It’s also been rigorously tested to make sure it lives up to its promises as a worry-free solution to vinyl flooring installation. Testing reliability through compatibility tests with screeds, smoothing compounds, and adhesives from manufacturers, including Europe’s independent training centre, FloorSkills, passed LION Floor with flying colours.
