Shaw Contract EMEA Dye Lab Collection now more widely available

SHAW Contract says one of its bestselling and most eye-catching carpet tile collections is now available in stock for the UK, the European and Middle East market.

Previously stocked only in the US, seven of the most popular colours from the Dye Lab pallete, Cornflower; Saxon; Woad; Indigo; Henna; Iron; and Sumac, are now stocked at Shaw Contract’s carbon neutral manufacturing plant in Sanquhar, Scotland.

Says the company: ‘Stocking the high-end carpet tile at Shaw Contract’s facility on this side of the Atlantic slashes the previous lead time for the stunning carpet tiles, opening up a wealth of creative possibilities for designers, architects and specifiers to bring a high-end luxury feel to commercial projects bringing intimacy or expansive boldness to the spaces where we work, rest and come together.’

Andrew Jackson, business development director EMEA at Shaw Contract said: ‘We wanted to make this show-stopping collection more easily available to our customers in the European market. Now in just a few days, the Dye Lab can be delivered to site in seven stunning colours.’

The company continues: ‘Featuring intensely saturated hues, softer washes and a range of neutral tones, the collection is the result of Shaw Contract’s exploration of natural dyeing processes and pigment behaviour. Dye Lab draws inspiration from natural dyes and mimics the colour shifts rendered in naturally dyed textiles, creating an elegant and unpredictable visual with organic progressions from lightly pigmented to intensely saturated.

‘Using techniques such as folding, clamping and eco-bundling, Shaw Contract experimented with dyeing over 700 yarn colours to create the collection palette and developed an innovative dye infusion process that achieves beautifully amorphous, deconstructed patterns with unpredictable outcomes meaning each and every carpet tile is unique in its shade and marbling.’

Shaw Contract was enlisted by Irish interiors and workspace specialists, Walls to Workstations, to provide a flooring solution for the high-end refurbishment project of the Dublin base of international law firm, Pinsent Masons that would reflect the firm’s vision to be an international market leader.

The company continues: ‘Working alongside RKD Architects, T&I Fitout, and exclusive furniture partners including Knoll, Muuto, Arper, Pedrali and Softline, Shaw Contract supplied Dye Lab carpet tiles in colours Woad and Lac to bring a luxurious wow-factor to the boardroom, reception areas, meeting rooms and other areas throughout the project. These colourways compliment the overall design scheme, offering a calming richness and elegant materiality for the refreshed office space.

‘For independent Dutch business law firm, Stek Advocaten’s new 690sq m Amsterdam headquarters Dye Lab carpet tiles were once again a clear choice. Working alongside sustainability and circular economy focused Dutch designer, Fokkema & Partners, and installers De Kruijff Projectstoffering, Shaw Contract supplied Dye Lab carpet tiles for the contemporary new interior of the grade-A listed building in the heart of Amsterdam city centre.

‘Flirting with building’s heritage as the home of Belgian haute couture fashion house, Hirsch & Cie from 1882 to 1976, the design concept aimed acute attention to a diversity of materials and a bold use of textures. While only the wide structural columns remain from the original interior, Dye Lab carpet tiles in colour Sumac deliver a distinctly luxury feel and textural elegance that compliments the modern-eclectic scheme with illusion vistas created through the space using integrated mirrors.’

Shaw Contract continues: ‘The Dye Lab carpet tile design reflects the bold and uplifting, yet professional attitude of the firm. The traditional oak wood floors in the cafeteria and bar contrast with the organic saturations of the carpet tiles, each with its own unpredictable visual.

‘In line with Shaw Contract’s commitment to people and planet, Dye Lab carpet tiles are installed with Shaw’s market leading Cradle to Cradle Certified EcoWorx backing – the first flooring product ever to be Cradle-to-Cradle certified – requires 40% less energy in production and is covered by a lifetime warranty. and contributes to carbon reductions in transport while increasing efficiency in installation techniques.’

The PVC-free backing is reportedly designed and assessed for environmental and social responsibility across categories including material health, product circularity, clean air and climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness. It’s also said to be lighter and stronger than traditional carpet tiles, and Cradle to Cradle Silver certified.

At the end of its useful life, Shaw Contract vows to reclaim and recycle the carpet tiles through its ‘re[TURN]’ scheme.

Customers in Europe and the UK can now order the collection with a lead time of just a few days. Four more colours from the collection, Walnut; Black Tea; Knotweed; and Fustic Wood will follow with in stock availability from January 2023.
