BOSTIK has launched a new soft floor adhesive

BOSTIK has launched STIX A600 EVOLUTION, a new soft floor adhesive that contains glass ball technology, reportedly enhancing the product’s handling performance and coverage rate.

Says the company: ‘The multifunctional adhesive has excellent environmental credentials and is suitable for use with all types of carpet and most resilient floorcoverings, including PVC sheet and tiles, linoleum, rubber, and acoustic underlays.

‘STIX A600 EVOLUTION’s glass ball technology is exclusive to Bostik and consists of micro spheres of glass in combination with specific dispersions and raw materials. This makes it possible for Bostik to significantly reduce the density of the adhesive while still maintaining a high performance.

‘This results in a high yield, with STIX A600 EVOLUTION able to cover a surface area more than 30% larger than that covered by the same quantity in weight of a standard soft floor adhesive.’

The company continues: ‘As well as greater coverage, Bostik’s glass ball technology also provides easier handling for the floorlayer. The lightweight consistency of the STIX A600 EVOLUTION offers a smooth, creamy application with excellent workability. In addition, the adhesive has a high-grab and is rapid drying, with a walk on time of approximately 12 hours.’

At the end of 2021 Bostik became a partner with CO2nstructZero, the construction industry’s zero carbon change programme, reportedly demonstrating the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon emissions and contributing to a more sustainable environment. This is evident in STIX A600 EVOLUTION, which is made from 35% bio-based raw materials, says Bostik.

By minimising the use of oil-made raw materials, Bostik says it’s reduced the overall CO2 footprint across the product’s lifecycle.

The company continues: ‘The UK construction industry is one of the largest contributors to plastic waste, contributing 23% of all landfill plastic, and reducing this represents a huge challenge. STIX A600 EVOLUTION is packaged in a bucket manufactured from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, which further contributes to the reduction of the carbon impact of the product. PCR containers are made from post-consumer waste. They require less energy than traditional plastic production methods, while helping to reduce landfill and contributing to a circular economy.’

Available in a 15kg bucket, STIX A600 EVOLUTION reportedly has a solvent-free, phthalate-free, and isocyanate-free formulation. ‘It has an EC1 Plus rating for very low VOC emissions and is compliant with the requirements of green building rating systems such as LEED and BREEAM. In addition, it has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which clearly communicates the product’s environmental performance over its entire lifecycle, and has been awarded the Blue Angel ecolabel – the world’s first environmental seal of approval.’
