F BALL and Co’s Marine Range help optimise the appearance of floorcoverings

F BALL and Co’s Marine Range comprises flooring installation products that are said to help optimise the appearance of floorcoverings in marine and offshore environments while reportedly ensuring the integrity of installations throughout their working life.

Among the key products for marine applications are Stopgap 700 Superflex and Stopgap 1200 Pro levelling compounds, which are recommended for substrates subject to flexing or movement with temperature changes, such as steel decking.

Says the company: ‘Stopgap 1200 Pro has the additional feature of being suitable for use over old adhesive residues, removing the need for mechanical preparation where installations are part of a refurbishment. When used in such applications, there is no need to prime beforehand, saving further time.

‘Also in F Ball’s Marine Range are specialised adhesives for installing carpet, vinyl, and rubber floorcoverings, such as its fast-track, pressure sensitive adhesive for luxury vinyl tiles (LVTs), Styccobond F58 PLUS.’

Launched last year, F Ball says its fast-drying formulation enables LVT tiles and planks to be secured from just five minutes following application of the adhesive. It can also be used to install rubber floorcoverings, said to be a popular choice on ships as they’re durable, easy to maintain and often offer better grip than other floorcoverings when wet.

The company adds: ‘For areas where there is the potential for temperatures to rise significantly, the high-strength, water resistant bond of the company’s Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS temperature tolerant, pressure sensitive vinyl adhesive will hold resilient floorcoverings in place when subject to temperature fluctuations from -20deg C up to +60deg C.

‘Adhesives for a wide range of textile floorcoverings are also available from F Ball, including Styccobond F3, a popular choice for bespoke carpet installations on board luxury cruise liners, as well as the company’s Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier. Recent projects involving the use of F Ball products in marine and offshore environments include the refit of luxury cruise liner the Vasco da Gama, following its acquisition by Mystic Cruises, and the installation of floorcoverings throughout the brand new Crystal Endeavour, presided over by Merima of Finland.’

Marine Equipment Directive (MED) certified and tested in accordance with IMO standards, all products in F Ball’s Marine Range carry the IMO ‘wheelmark’ and UK ‘Red Ensign’ conformity mark.
