Milliken puts art on show in the City of Lights

MILLIKEN’s latest carpet tile collection ‘Comfortable Concrete Retold’ is used to dramatic effect in the company’s Paris showroom.

The collection, created by Milliken’s in-house UK design team, is inspired by the raw, urban feel of the concrete metropolis and street style.

Two new tile designs: Urban Graffiti and Urban Energy were created as a result of Milliken’s collaboration with Loughborough University design students and are inspired by the ‘New London Fabulous Movement.’

The movement is based on the colourful, surface-driven public art and design which sprung up during the pandemic as a reaction against the dominant minimalism of recent years. Urban Graffiti and Urban Energy are designed to punctuate a floor plane by creating an inset rug effect.

In 2022, for the fourth year running, the textile degree programme at Loughborough University partnered with Milliken for a competition to design carpet tile concepts. Students from Loughborough’s Print, Weave, Multi Media Textiles and Integrated Digital Practice courses were set two briefs by Milliken’s design team.

Comfortable Concrete Retold is a Carbon Neutral carpet tile collection, as are all Milliken’s carpet and LVT collections worldwide. The design used here in Milliken’s Paris Showroom is ‘Urban Graffiti’ in Pastel colour.
