SHAW Contract products have been used in the Brunei Building refurbishment which incorporated the revitalising and updating of several interior spaces in SOAS University of London.

The lecture theatre and lobby space have created a new multi-purpose social study area and events space for the university for traditional lectures, film screenings and musical productions.

Works to the space included replacement of existing seating; redesign of the existing ceiling; replacement of lighting; addition of acoustic treatment to the ceiling and walls to allow for multipurpose use; and inclusion of a new lobby and associated doors. Importantly replacement of wall and floor finishes have created a more contemporary, aesthetic feel.

Shaw Contract’s Mindful Play carpet tile collection was specified by architects and designers Bond Bryan. Mindful Play was designed to help create for lively interaction between people and spaces. Says the company: ‘Think simple, geometric forms, boldly engineered stripes, and powerful colour blocking.’

On completion of the project the client said: ‘This will really mean better use of the facilities for teaching and learning and help enhance the experience of our students.’
