WOCA says ‘yes’ to ecological success despite rapid economic expansion

WOCA says ‘yes’ to ecological success despite rapid economic expansion. In fact, it’s precisely because of the guiding principle of sustainability and environmental awareness that companies will continue to grow in the coming years, says the company.

WOCA says it sees the challenges of the future more as a motor for growth. ‘These aren’t mutually exclusive but generates new customers with higher demands on sustainability and ecological awareness,’ the company adds. ‘The attractiveness of a product is being measured increasingly by the consumer based on pertinent environmental assessments.’

WOCA Denmark describes itself as a leading manufacturer of coating for wooden surfaces in Europe. The Danish company says it’s best known for its natural oils and care products, but also for water-based lacquers with the highest performance demands.

It continues: ‘Coatings have been produced in Denmark for more than 50 years. WOCA Denmark has always distinguished itself through its innovative technology and environmental standards. WOCA has a holistic approach to protecting the environment throughout the product’s lifecycle.’

The company goes on to say many new production procedures have been introduced in recent years, for example, drastically reducing the use of water for cleaning production facilities.

‘With a new environment and water-saving process, tanks, pipelines and large containers are cleaned with a big water-saving washing machine,’ says the company. ‘Compared to before, more than 80% less water is used, but this example is only one of many. In general, WOCA is permanently concerned with the topic of environmental protection and the reduction of pollutants.’

Today, says WOCA, most products are filled in recycled plastic canisters. ‘WOCA is constantly focused on working completely paperless on recycled cardboard parts by 2025. This means all areas related to production, sales and marketing are actually examined carefully in order to achieve the highest possible level of sustainability.’

Of course, says the company, WOCA is also working on new packaging technologies so no waste will be generated in the future. That will probably be the biggest challenge for years to come, it says.

‘Filling paint or oil into biodegradable packaging is a big goal and for this we worked closely with institutes and manufacturers of new packaging options. However, it will be a long time before such new, completely ecological materials are available in larger volumes and with greater stability.’

WOCA would like to continue to see itself as the innovation engine for this market segment. For example, every new product and the manufacture of it is tested for its physiological and environmental compatibility before being launched on the market, says the company.
‘This means that even with the idea for a new product, the first focus is on sustainability – not only at the product level, but also with the use of raw materials and production energies.’

In conclusion, WOCA points out the goal for the next two years is to convert product packaging to recycled materials and not to use new raw materials for packaging and shipping logistics.
