THE Flowing Screeds Association (FSA) is delighted to announce it has successfully completed its initial pilot training session, which was hosted by LKAB Minerals in Derby on 6 June.

Tackling training needs in the sector is one of the FSA’s core aims, which it’s achieving by establishing a programme to include practical courses. This is a crucial step towards the goal of raising industry standards – a core aspiration of the FSA. It follows the identification of a potential skills deficit in the construction sector with regard to the installation of flowing screeds.

‘The recent session has been an important first stage in getting this process started.

‘The afternoon was full of insightful discussions and was a great success,’ says Ben Bland, FSA board member. ‘Thank you to all those who participated. The Flowing Screeds Association will be running more sessions like this very soon and will continue with its goal to improve standards and provide a service to the flowing screed industry.

‘Training and continuous improvement are key to our commitment to excellence in the industry. Thank you to all the participants for their insightful contributions and to LKAB Minerals for their hospitality.’

The FSA believes accreditation will be an invaluable boost to the sector, as this will help address the need for adherence to the relevant British Standard, BS 8204. This work will also ensure individuals entering the industry will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to expertly perform their job.
