Complex Job at Grade I Listed Building

We’re so pleased to bring you these glorious images from a recent carpet refurbishment project inside Sheffield Town Hall.

This Grade I listed building was constructed in the 1890s in the Renaissance Revival style. In need of new carpets for the main staircase and Mandela Room, the council turned to Wilton to develop carpets which would meet the quality and durability challenge as well as match the opulence and grandeur of this public building at the heart of Sheffield’s civic life.

Resplendent reds evoke a sense of luxury and ceremony, while the detailing in the border design echoes the architectural features in the masonry and windows. It’s elegant, timeless and entirely fitting for this heritage building.

This incredibly complex project has been woven in our Wiltshire factory in 10 row quality for optimal durability and underfoot comfort, woven on an electronic jacquard to minimize seams, and fitted by the skilled team at Pyramid Carpets in Sheffield.
