TThe latest meeting of the manufacturers and distributors joint committee took place on 3 December. This hybrid event saw members convening at the Hilton Hotel East Midlands Airport for the in-person element, as well as those joining online.

The meeting included an update on EPR packaging regulations, possible revisions to the Future Homes and Buildings standards, and this committee’s current main project which is to produce new guidance on the installation of laminate flooring following the withdrawal of BS8425:2003 and CEN TS 14472-3.

Also at this meeting there were two presentations. The first presentation was from Ben Powers and Stephen Thorpe on behalf of the UK Slip Group (UKSRG) which focused on Slip Resistance and Testing and included a practical demonstration of a new wear machine.

The second presentation of the day focused on the InstallerSHOW 2025, with Nathan Garnett, Business Development Director for Lyrical Communications (the show organisers), who gave an overview of the event and the target audience, the plans for the flooring section in 2025, and how manufacturers and distributors can get involved with the event.
