Tricas Flooring has successfully completed a comprehensive 3,500sqm flooring refurbishment project at a BUPA care home in Bournemouth, utilising a range of high-performance UltraFloor products to deliver a durable, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents and staff.
The extensive refurbishment programme involved the replacement of flooring throughout the occupied care facility, including the installation of new carpets in bedrooms and corridors, slip-resistant vinyl flooring in bathrooms, and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) in the reception and dining areas.
Working within a live care home environment presented a unique set of challenges. With the residents, staff and visitors continuing to use the facility throughout the project, careful planning and coordination were essential to ensure works were completed safely and with minimal disruption to daily routines.
Following the removal and responsible disposal of existing flooring materials, the Tricas Flooring team prepared the subfloors using UltraFloor Level IT Pro30 rapid setting smoothing underlayment.
The fast-setting floor leveller proved particularly beneficial in the occupied environment, helping to minimise dust generation while effectively covering residual adhesive left from the previous floor coverings. Its rapid curing properties enabled the installation team to progress quickly through each phase, reducing inconvenience to residents and staff.
New carpets were installed throughout bedrooms and corridors using Stick IT 500 adhesive, providing a secure and long-lasting bond. In bathroom areas, Stick IT 640 adhesive was selected for the installation of slip-resistant vinyl flooring, helping to create a safe, hygienic and easy-to-maintain environments.
Reception and dining areas were transformed with the installation of modern luxury vinyl tiles using Stick IT 543 adhesive. The finished floor offers a contemporary appearance while delivering the durability and ease of maintenance required in high-traffic communal spaces.
Following installation, comprehensive quality inspections were undertaken across all areas before the project was handed over to care home management. The completed refurbishment provides residents and staff with safe, attractive and durable flooring solutions designed to withstand the demands of a busy care environment.
Commenting on the project, Alex Page, Director of Tricas Flooring, said: “UltraFloor products were chosen for their reliability, fast-setting formulas, and ability to handle challenging subfloors, allowing quick, high-quality installation with minimal disruption to residents.”
The successful completion of the Bournemouth care home refurbishment demonstrates how the right combination of product performance, planning and installation expertise can deliver exceptional results, even in highly sensitive occupied environments where resident wellbeing remains top priority.
For flooring contractors working within healthcare and care home settings, the project highlights the importance of selecting solutions that combine performance, speed and ease of application while supporting the highest standards of safety and resident care.
