Forbo Flooring Systems’ new acoustic collection

FORBO Flooring Systems has developed an Acoustic Collection, which brings together its Sarlon acoustic vinyl range and Modul’up adhesive-free solutions. Forbo thinks the collection ‘will be the go-to reference point for any project where impact-sound and downtime need to be minimised.’

Forbo describes the Acoustic Collection as offering a portfolio of products available in adhesive-free or traditional fully adhered formats in acoustic, compact and compact acoustic versions. The range includes Forbo’s acoustic sheet vinyl Sarlon 19 dB and Sarlon 15 dB, and its adhesive-free vinyl solutions Modul’up 19 dB and Modul’up Compact. The collection offers impact sound reduction properties, and Sarlon 15 dB and Modul’up Compact, in particular, aim to offer the high resistance to residual indentation.

Part of Forbo’s Fast Fit range, Modul’up has been designed to be installed with minimal subfloor preparation and can be installed over a variety of subfloors or even over an existing floor, reducing installation time by, it’s claimed, more than 50% compared to standard, glued-down products. Single sided tape is used to install Modul’up to ensure that the product joins stay tightly in place once installed, ‘making it a truly ‘lay flat stay flat’ flooring solution in every sense.’ Forbo adds that Modul’up can withstand heavy rolling as it performs like a traditional adhered solution and because there are no adhesives required, there are also no odours or aromatics to concern all who use the building.

The four products are available in 94 designs, which have been split into a number of design families: Wood, Material, Colour and Graphic, and include new digitally printed items, such as Hybrid Wood, Colour Splash, Kubik and Graphito.

Each of the products in the collection is coated with Forbo’s XtremPUR finish, ‘a high-performance lacquer protection that provides resistance against stains, scuffs and scratches and provides a natural matte look.’ The finish is meant to aid the slip resistance of the collection to R10 and delivers a fire performance of Bfl-s1.

Lewis Cooper, marketing executive at Forbo Flooring Systems said: ‘Similar to other portfolios, this collection has been created based on the company’s design principles and Global Colour Card. The result is a broad product offering where different product ranges complement each other, allowing contractors to create integrated flooring schemes with ease. In fact, the Acoustic Collection can be used alongside a variety of Forbo’s ranges, such as Allura LVT, Eternal vinyl sheet and Sphera homogeneous vinyl, thanks to their colours and designs having been developed to complement one another.’

Forbo’s Acoustic Collection is phthalate-free, offers stain and chemical resistance and has certified anti-bacterial properties.
The Sarlon and Modul’up ranges are just two solutions from Forbo’s Acoustic flooring offering. The wider acoustic collection from Forbo includes its modular LVT solution Allura Decibel; its safety vinyl, Step Decibel; its sustainable options Marmoleum Decibel and Acoustic, and Forbo’s general sheet solution, Eternal de Luxe Decibel.
