MAPEI’s UltraCare protection and maintenance range includes nine treatments dedicated to floor protection. Designed to protect all types of tile and stone – and developed for professional and end-user application – the treatments are supplied ‘ready-to-use, for easy application and guarantee surface durability’.

Says Mapei: ‘Formulated in the Mapei Research Laboratories, each Mapei UltraCare protector has been developed to suit individual tile characteristics and to offer a specific solution: from colour enhancement and water and oil-repellency to the protection of porous tiles before grouting. The treatments can be used across a diverse range of commercial and residential sites, on surfaces ranging from external textured porcelain to acid-sensitive polished marble.

‘All the stain protectors and intensifiers are non-film forming, breathable and UV-resistant. The ready-to-use solutions are formulated to be applied with a brush, cloth or fleece applicator and offer protection throughout the installation process.’

Mapei has provided the following information on its treatments:

Pre-installation protection
UltraCare Grout Release: a water-based treatment applied before grouting. Protects porous surfaces from grout ingress, picture framing and staining. Also for use as a sacrificial sealer on textured porcelain, to make cleaning after grouting quick and easy. EMI CODE EC1 Plus certified and approved for use on food contact surfaces.

Natural-effect protection
UltraCare Stain Protector W: a natural-effect, water-based impregnator for unpolished surfaces. Provides stain-resistant protection. EMI CODE EC1 Plus certified and approved for use on food contact surfaces.

UltraCare Stain Protector S: a natural-effect, non-film forming solvent-based impregnator. Provides stain-resistant protection.

UltraCare Stain Protector W Plus: a water-based impregnator that provides stain-resistant protection. Suitable for use on all natural stone finishes and agglomerates. EMI CODE EC1 Plus certified and approved for use on food contact surfaces.

UltraCare Anti-Mould Protector: a mould-resistant, water-based finish. Slows down the reformation of mould. Suitable for use on stone, render, painted surfaces, ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, grout and brick.

Colour-enhanced protection
UltraCare Intensifier W: a high penetration, water-based impregnator. Provides stain resistant protection and an enhancing effect. EMI CODE EC1 Plus certified.

UltraCare Intensifier S: a non-film forming solvent-based impregnator. Provides stain-resistant protection and an enhancing effect.

Grout protection and enhancement:
UltraCare Grout Protector: a water-based, non-aerosol spray impregnator for cementitious grouts. Protects joints from staining. EMI CODE EC1 Plus certified and approved for use on food contact surfaces.

UltraCare Fuga Fresca Grout Refresh: an easy-to-use refresher for internal cementitious grout. Eliminates irregularities in the colour of grout joints for a uniform appearance and lowers water absorption for easier cleaning. Also ideal for restoration of existing cement grout, where it can be used to change grout colour, eliminating the need for new tile installation.

Alongside protectors, Mapei’s UltraCare range also includes various cleaners, which reportedly share the UltraCare benefits. They’re tailored to suit individual tile characteristics – be it acid-sensitive, acid-resistant, polished or unpolished – and formulated for professional and end-user application. The products can also reportedly be used across all settings, from new installations to the renovation of existing surfaces.

In additional to daily and deep cleaning solutions for tiles and stone, the range includes UltraCare Grout Cleaner, UltraCare Mould Remover and UltraCare Smooth Silicone – a mould-resistant smoothing product for finishing sealants.
