LOCATED in the countryside of the Cotswolds, Cirencester Sixth Form College has been recently refurbished by main contractor EG Carter & Co and Bristol-based flooring experts AJ Gollop Contract Flooring. The new installation at the sixth form college has included new flooring finishes in an auditorium of the learning hub.
The client specification called for two types of nosings to modify the college campus with a practical and attractive aesthetic – a stair-edging product suitable for use with vinyl floors with a custom polished finish and a UPVC nosing, already available from the range provided by Treads at Marlings. The profile selected for the two main staircases running up either side of the seating area of the learning hub is the LS1 profile, a 3mm vinyl nosing, which has been polished to a mirror finish and fitted with the Mist insert.
In the central bleacher seating area UPVC nosings have been chosen to complement the vinyl floor finish of the theatre. The UPVC nosing profile, the MSPVC1, was chosen in a grey carrier profile paired with a classic smooth black insert to contrast and provide DDA compliance.
Contracts manager Paul Watts from AJ Gollop Contract Flooring said: ‘This project was quite challenging from the outset with various design hurdles to overcome. Correct product specification to suit client’s needs, sharp pricing and quick turnaround on delivery are key elements to achieve this. That’s why we were very keen to reach out to Marlings who provided all of the above – and more. We appreciated their ‘can do’ attitude to achieve our aims.
‘Our client and the end-user of this prestigious building are delighted with the products and the installation. We look forward to working with Marlings again on similar projects.’
Polished finishes are available in all aluminium profiles from Treads range at Marlings.
