2022 Flooring Apprentice of the Year Winner – George Carter

The CFA has proudly promoted this award in conjunction with CFJ for ten consecutive years and we are delighted with the levels of engagement from employers, apprentices, training providers and sponsors. The competition has become a regular feature in the flooring industry calendar and highlights the hard work and achievements of flooring apprentices across the UK. It is a platform for apprentices to showcase the skills that they have learnt during their apprenticeships and for the companies that employ them to demonstrate their commitment to training their workforce and their investment in the next generation of flooring fitters.

In a period within the flooring sector where new skills and labour are desperately required to meet current demand, George is an excellent example of how the flooring industry can provide a viable, rewarding and wide-ranging trade, offering a broad spectrum of roles and opportunities.

George is being presented with his award and prizes this month at the Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA) training centre in Loughborough. He had the following to say about winning the competition: ’There are no words to describe how honoured I am to have been chosen for this award. The competition is tough, and I can now carry this title with pride, for the rest of my career as a floor layer. I have to say a big thank you to my employer Rudge Brothers and James for giving me the opportunity and taking me on as an apprentice, sending me to FloorSkills, a training college who teach to the highest standards. I also want to personally thank Andy and Shaun Kessler, floor layers at Rudge brothers and James who have guided me through my journey. This award is life changing for me and my career as a floor layer, which I am nothing but passionate about.’
