CFA Guide to Sustainability is a publication that’s not to be underestimated. With a growing concern over the rising temperatures of the planet, this guide has been carefully put together to inspire companies to ensure they’re taking the necessary steps to help contribute to become more friendly for the environment.
The publication showcases case studies of those who have already made beneficial eco steps such as well-known company Westcotes Flooring Company.
In the guide, it states: ‘For Westcotes, material selection and the areas of biggest impact. When working through main contractors, many of the projects’ floor finishes are fully specified prior to engaging with the main contractor and actually starting on site.
But even in these situations, flooring contractors still have influence regarding other items such as floor protection, DPMs, latex smoothing compounds and the adhesives used, so they can opt for low VOC products.
Westcotes also targets a significant amount of end-user work, in which the company can specify what flooring it fits, and has the option, for example, to go for looselay fast systems, reducing the need for adhesives – making the products easier to uplift and easier to recycle.’
